My name is John Singer. My wife Jenne and I live on a small holding just outside of Auchenblae, Aberdeenshire.
Our Fold 'Kintore Castle Fold' consists of 7 breeding cows prominently black.

We started our Highland fold in September 2008. Thanks to a number of experienced Highland Breeders, we were encouraged and given advice to start showing cattle. I have a keen interest in showing cattle as well as trying to promote the breed while maintaining bloodlines and good standards of cattle.
I have been learning as I go on the proper methods of raising Highland Cattle and pride myself on the time and effort spent keeping the fold as healthy as possible while still trying to maintain their natural form and build.
I am currently a member and past president of the East of Scotland Highland Cattle Club, a member of the North of Scotland Cattle Club and a past Council Member of the Highland Cattle Society. I do my best to promote the breed whenever possible.
I'm really looking forward to judging the cattle put in front of myself. Be it online, I will do my best.

Judges comments

To Trevor and all concerned with the virtual show including the exhibitors for putting forward their pictures; I thank you all. It was a privilege to have so many pictures to judge. Judging based purely by a photo proved more difficult than I had anticipated. Not being able to see a cow walk or 'feel' them under their hair I had to make assumptions based on what I could see. If some of the cattle had been photographed standing a bit more correctly or had been given a comb there may have been different choices made, but I understand too well how hard it is to get a picture in a field. (Mine stand perfectly until a camera appears) ?? Saying that when I picked my overall Champion it came down to the one that most caught my eye and the one I'd happily take home to my own fold. Thank you again to all the exhibitors who entered.
